The Thompson Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, education and celebration of Thompson history.

Purpose
The Thompson Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, education and celebration of Thompson history.
In this capacity we:
- curate the THS Museum at the 1902 Ellen Larned Memorial Building, the Tourtellotte Memorial Room/Museum and the Old 1842 Town Hall
- maintain and archive more than 100,000 Thompson historical records
- manage several significant historical collections to include the Ramsdell Transportation Collection, the Tourtellotte Collection, the Henry Brown Civil War Letters, the Conrad Kronholm Water Collection, etc.
- are conservators for a Native American lithic site
- hold a position on the Tourtellotte Board of Trustees
- serve as the Connecticut State-mandated town historian
- run the annual Christmas Gift Shop
- conduct lectures and historical educational programs in our schools and community
- research and make available stories of Thompson's remarkable past
- manage and maintain two historical buildings
